It was already the night before Christmas and outside, it was snowing heavily.

   Gluck's friends sang Christmas carols and had fun, eating cookies and dried fruit and drinking hot vanilla-flavored cocoa.
   - We will be the only people on Earth lucky enough to spend Christmas eve with such a pretty star! they all exclaimed happily.

   The children were growing restless ; it was a very strange night indeed ...
   Exhausted, Gluck fell asleep in her basket by the fireplace.

   - Shortly before midnight, dad announced : “Santa will soon be here. Let's get dressed and go outside.”
